Ready for Growing Season?

A spring startup isn't just about turning the water back on. It's the most critical point in your irrigation calendar to catch potential leaks, adjust head coverage, and ensure your controller isn't wasting water before the summer heat arrives.

Rafter Three provides a technician-led activation process that covers every component of your system, from the backflow preventer to the final drip emitter.

Our Startup Checklist Includes:

  • Mainline Activation: Slow-fill process to prevent water hammer and pipe damage.
  • Zone-by-Zone Testing: Checking every valve and head for proper operation.
  • Head Adjustments: Aligning nozzles to prevent water waste on sidewalks or driveways.
  • Controller Programming: Optimizing schedules for early-season watering needs.
  • Sensor Check: Testing rain and soil moisture sensors for functionality.

Spring Activation FAQs

When should I schedule my spring startup?
In Colorado Springs, we typically begin startups in late April or early May, once the risk of a deep soil freeze has passed. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred timeframe.
Do I need to be home for the startup?
We generally need access to the water shut-off (usually in the basement or garage) and the controller. If your controller is accessible and the water is already turned on at the main valve, we can often perform the service while you're away.
What if the technician finds a leak?
If we find a repair that needs to be made, we'll explain the issue and provide a quote on the spot. In many cases, we can handle minor repairs during the same appointment to save you a second visit.
